Ex Why Zed has built a reputation as a leading UK full colour brochure and booklet printing company with a forward thinking mindset to print and combined with a “Can Do” attitude we will find a solution to the most bespoke request or tightest deadline. We are large enough to offer huge savings on your booklet printing quote but small enough to give your job individual attention.
We specialise in creative booklets for illustrators and photographers, catalogue and yearbook printing for University colleges right through to glossy laminated brochures for behemoth companies on the Cambridge Science Park.
We offer an extensive and all encompassing digital and litho print service.
For short run booklets our market leading Indigo digital press offers exceptional quality printing at a cost effective price whilst our extensive litho department ensures you a competitive booklet printing quote for the medium and longer runs.
The only constraints on the size of your brochure printing is your imagination. We can saddle stitch/wire stitch or perfect bind booklets from smaller than A6 to larger than A3* and all custom booklet printing sizes in between.
To make your product stand out from the crowd we offer the full GF Smith range of papers aswell as embossed, laminated brochure covers and FSC approved stocks.
*(To print A3 Booklets we have to use one of our larger presses which has slightly higher set up costs and is significantly more expensive upto 100 copies).

Wire Stitched / Saddle Stitched
A printed document is saddle stitched by stapling it's sheets at the fold of the spine over a mechanical ‘saddle’. This process is best for booklets upto 48 pages. If you have more pages than 48 then the thickness will cause it to ‘bounce’ open when laid flat rather than staying closed.
Perfect Binding
Perfect binding is the process of binding sheets of a document by aligning the edges at the spine and bonding them with glue to an external cover to give a square finish. If the spine is less than 3mm we would advise you to go for wire stitching.
Each sheet in your wire stitched booklet forms 4 pages when it’s bound. Therefore when designing your booklet, remember to make sure that the total number of pages is a multiple of 4.
Because of the way we layout pages on the press, the most cost effective page quantities are multiples of 8 and 16 so 8/16/24/32/48.
Always supply files with 3mm bleed on each edge, this is even more important for booklets because of the ‘drift’ that occurs when binding
- we don’t want you to lose any information.
For extensive help on setting up your booklet file for print have a look at our Resource section.
Booklet printing offers a huge number of variables and as a result it would be impossible to quote for every eventuality, so please email us with your spec taking into account the following factors and we will get a quote back to you.
• Quantity
• Finished Size
• Total Pages (see 'Helpful Tips' above)
• Cover Stock
• Inside Stock
• Binding Method (see Binding Options left)
• Full Colour or Black and White
• Matt Lamination is strongly recommended on covers printed onto 200gsm or more to prevent cracking on the fold.
• There are also a range of premium cover options we can add including Spot UV Varnishing, Silver and Gold foiling and Embossing however these add a significant amount to the total cost of your booklet.
