Booklet Binding Options
Wire Stitched / Saddle Stitched
A printed document is saddle stitched by stapling its sheets at the fold of the spine, over a mechanical ‘saddle’. This process is best for booklets upto 48 pages. If you have more pages than 48 then the thickness will cause it to ‘bounce’ open when laid flat rather than staying closed.
Perfect Binding
Perfect binding is the process of binding sheets of a document by aligning the edges at the spine and bonding them with glue to an external cover to give a square finish. If the spine is less than 3mm we would advise you to go for wire stitching.
Paperback books and thick documents, such as brochures and larger
news-stand magazines are generally perfect bound.
Booklet Sizes
We are able to print your booklets from A6 to A3 and all bespoke sizes in between. Why not stand out from the crowd by designing your booklet and avoiding one of the standard 'A' sizes.
Helpful Tips
Each sheet in your wire stitched booklet forms 4 pages when it’s bound. Therefore when designing your booklet, remember to make sure that the total number of pages is a multiple of 4.
Because of the way we layout pages on the press, the most cost effective page quantities are 16/32/48 and multiples of 16.
Always supply files with 3mm bleed on each edge, this is even more important for booklets because of the ‘drift’ that occurs when binding
- we don’t want you to lose any information.
